8-) CHALLENGES

Test your skills with these great Challenges! Feel free to suggest one and it will be included in the OP. This is not an exclusive club but a fun activity to challenge ourselves and test our skills. Challenge achievers can put 'I Met the Challenge!' in their signature and include which grade they achieved.

Have fun and develop your skills!

HARD GRADE CHALLENGES

1. # PRO WARRIOR #

Complete 5:1 Fight against any Boss.

5:1 ratio fight means you adjust your stats to 1/5th of the Titans level ie if Titan is level 50000 you can have 10000 stat points, including equipment stats.
Note that 1 stat point in health gives 50 health points.
Only round and hex gems allowed, max two hex gems.
Ultimate Magic and potions are banned.

Good luck!

When complete, post a comment. Video not required.

2. # EXTENDED PLAYER #

Reach 1000 Awakenings with both Characters Isa and Siris.
When complete, post a screenshot

MEDIUM GRADE CHALLENGES

1. # ARE WE DIZZY YET #

Conduct a fight against any titan of your choice. Use one or more Switch Class gems/potions to accomplish at least one break in each weapon class. Stun effects, Magic & Super are permitted, but do not count as a "Break" for this purpose. You may start/end in any weapon class. There is no limit to the number of switches you do.

Rating: Probably "Easy", once you catch on.
More Challenge: Do this for a boss fight &/or use both effects at once.
Less Challenge: Use a Block-All effect. (Discouraged, but permitted)
The point of this exercise is to learn to adapt quickly to the style changes.

How to use Switch Effect:
• Before the fight, equip all three weapons in the reverse order that you wish. Thus, your 3rd equip will be the weapon you use to start your fight.
• The effect comes in two flavours; both can be produced in gem or potion form
(1) Switch on Super - when you cast Super, you change class immediately & damage will be delivered as per the super for your new style.
(2) Switch on Get Hit - (more entertaining, much less controlled). Be careful of double hits, as that will switch you twice before your graphics catch up. Be sure to pack enough healing to offset your damage. People with good defense skills may need to deliberately allow hits.
• Be careful switching in/out of Heavy as side blocks are the reverse of side dodges.
• All weapon experience goes to your last weapon in hand.
• In the "real" game, you might use a Switch on Super effect to soften up an opponent with a powerful mastered weapon & then deliver the killing blow with an untrained but inefficient weapon. I.e. Fight a Boss down to scratch levels with your infinity blade & then switch to Spindle (which has 2/3 Shock effect - weak against spectrum defense) to master it instead.

When complete, post a comment. Video not required.

The first time I did this was against Terrovax. As he telegraphs his moves more than other bosses, it gives you extra time to notice what you are holding just this instant.

2. # An Honourable (?) Fight #

You are to cause no damage during Break.
Stab, Slash and Weapon strikes are explicitly disallowed.
Super is permitted, but only if you do not inflict damage.
Magic (including defensive magic) is not permitted during Break or weapon change.
This basically leaves you the use of Scratch, Magic &/or Damage-On-Defence gems.
(You wouldn't want to hit them while they're down, would you?)

Opponent Choice:
• Challenging: Any Boss
• Permissive: Any opponent in any quest
Clashmob & Arena opponents always disallowed

Equipment:
• Challenging: No Magic, No potions, any 2 Gems
• Permissive: +Health/Sec potions are disallowed -- they continue during Breaks
Note that a lot of ordinary stuff just is not useful.

When completed, post a comment. No video required.

Higher rebirth characters may find this task much harder because
• They are more likely to choose the "No Magic" option
• Damage-On-Defence gems have fairly low caps.
The "Challenging" Challenger is expected to demonstrate a good defence.

Footnote 1: A "permissive" version of this approach is one way to defeat those annoying "Normal Damage Resist" Bosses. However, this tactic is less necessary now that Nullify has been partially restored.

Footnote 2: In the original Infinity Blade, this task was a hidden accomplishment "The Pen Is Mightier Than The Sword"; in which you had to defeat your opponent using only damage from Magic. In IB2 this achievement was called Mind over Matter.

This is great! I will definitely try it out and report back :D What do you think of making this thread a Challenge thread that we could add other challenges to, and also like you said before encourage people to create their own?

I used the 'on hit switch class' gem against Galath once and it was crazy. Half the time I got confused whether to block or dodge. But I had the health regen potion, so I guess it doesnt count as having completed this challenge. Would love to try it again though

I believe potions are permitted but you need to have completed a break with each weapon class to fulfill this challenge.

I didn't know that the last weapons equipped are the ones you are given, i thought it was random.

That would be why I call this challenge: "Are We Dizzy Yet?"
That is the usual result the first time most anyone tries it.

Practice on something slow, like a pillar wielding titan.
Or use an 80% speed gem, if you continue to have trouble.
At some point, it should just 'click' and you can do it right most of the time.
Then, try Galeth again.

My approach to writing challenges is - the challenge is for YOU.
If you genuinely need potions to do it, then I am fine with that.
BUT, if you think you can do better (as appears to be the case),
then you should not use potions.

The real goal of THIS challenge is to trip up the habits that your fingers form,
to correctly hit the Dodge (when it IS a Dodge) and Shield (when it IS a Shield).

Nice job! Are you thinking of stepping it up in difficulty and trying it out on a boss?

Feel free to suggest your own challenge.

@DN Magic Mic

Great!

I like your choice of starting opponent. Parry works well there.
I also like your use of the Magic Charge gem to be sure you have healing when you need it.

In my opinion, the PPStun gem gets in the way, as Super/Stun breaks don't count & then you need to start another break. Perhaps a Break+2 Hex instead? Or, since you are using Rk1 weapons, Heal-On-Hit?

Still, you have clearly shown that you have the trick of it.

Re: Pro-Warrior Challenge

If I equip a gem-only ring (Iridix, Paga Circle, ...),
Must I still count points allocated to Magic?

If I use Ruin without Nullify,
Must I still count points for Dark damage?
